Overview

Hunt Regional Medical Center is looking for PRN NICU RN's at our Greenville, TX facility. THe RN will be responsible for patient care in all areas of the Women's Center.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

• Conduct reflects HMHD’s values and a commitment to HMHD’s Code of Conduct.

• Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.

• Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.

• Complies with all HIPAA standards.

• Responsible and accountable for   new employee orientation.

• Attends and Participates in huddle   and unit specific meetings.

• Maintains knowledge of current   regulatory standards as they pertain to the department(s) and assures   compliance and communication of standards to staff.

• Reinforces HMHD's Behavorial Expectations AND Womens Center Behavior Pledge (provided).  

JOB SPECIFIC CRITERIA for L&D

• Providing support for the mother during labor.      

• Monitoring the fetal heart rate, and mother’s vital signs.      

• Measuring the strength and timing of contractions.      

• Administering medications and performing diagnostic tests.      

• Consulting with physicians and other members of the care team.      

• Assisting with inducing labor.      

• Coaching the mother during delivery.      

• Identifying and assisting with complications.      

• Assisting with various procedures, including Cesarean sections.      

• Monitoring and performing tests on newborns.      

• Providing education and support to mothers and families after delivery.    

JOB SPECIFIC CRITERIA in Mother/Baby Unit

• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients’ (both mother and infant) care plans.      

• Maintains a comfortable, safe and clean   environment for mother and infant.      

• Assists mother with her hygienic needs.      Checks mother for any post part bleeding.      Examines mother’s fundus.      

• Inspects c-section incision (if applicable).      

• Assesses mother’s pain, if any.      

• Performs emotional status checks on mother, recognizing symptoms such as those related to post part depression.      

• Monitors bonding between mother and infant.      

• Takes mother’s and infant’s vital   signs.      

• Measures input/output of mother and   infant.      

• Monitors mother and infant and reports adverse reactions to any treatments or medications being given.      

• Provides mother with breast-feeding tips.      

• Educates mother on sore nipple management.      

• Teaches mother bathing tips for infant.      

• Instructs mother on diaper changing.      

• Weighs infant.      

• Performs heel sticks   for bg’s of infant.      

• Keeps track of all feeds and diapers.      

• Bathes infant.      

• Involves and educates family/significant others in implementing best practices for mother and   infant care.      

• Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely   manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.      

• Performs other   position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.      Completes required orientation as directed by facility.      

• Follows facility and OSHA   safety rules and procedures while on assignment.      

• Follows facility and GHR Unusual Occurrence Protocol.      

• Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.  

JOB SPECIFIC CRITERIA for NICU

• Cares for infants transitioning to extra uterine life.      

• Provides age and culturally appropriatecare to patient.      

• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.      

• Provides nutritional assessment & specialized feedings.      

• Changes dressings,   inserts catheters, starts IVs.      

• Provides arterial & intravenous therapy.      

• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as incubators and   ventilators.      

• Prepares and administers and records prescribed medications.      

• Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments.      

• Monitors vital signs and initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology, communicates patient’s condition to care team.      

• Assists treating physician during examination, treatment and procedures, which can include life-saving situations.      

• Instructs and educates patient’s family.      

• Participates in discharge planning.      

• Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate   format and on the appropriate forms.      

• Performs other position-related duties as   assigned, depending on assignment setting.      Completes required orientation as directed by facility.      

• Follows facility and OSHA   safety rules and procedures while on assignment.    

• Follows facility and GHR Unusual Occurrence   Protocol.     • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.      

• Upholds HIPAA regulations.    

• Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.

• Minimum Work Experience: None

• Required Licenses/Certifications: Appropriate CPR Certification

• Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: None

• Preferred Qualification: RNC, STABLE
