Nursing - CNA/Medical Assistant


Under the supervision and/or direction of a Director of Psychiatric Nursing, Charge Nurse, or Staff Nurse, the Personal Care Aid (PCA) performs various duties assisting nursing or clinical staff in the treatment and care of psychiatric patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the Program and the host hospital.


Participates in planning and implementing daily activities for patients, monitors the patients’ attendance in program activities and psychiatric treatment modalities. Interacts with patients on a one to one basis in a therapeutic manner. Reports relevant patient information to the Registered Nurse for evaluation, intervention and documentation.  Assists with Activities/Recreational Therapy activities. Assists in the admission process of the patient which includes the inspection and proper care of all patients’ clothing and property, orientation of the patient to the unit and the program. Assists, as necessary, with unit seminars, occupational and recreational activities and patient community meetings.
